Kevin Huttenlocher has been active and working in the auto repair industry of NY since 1976. He opened his first general auto repair shop in Nassau County in 1981, followed by a second in 1990 in Port Jefferson, Suffolk County. Unsatisfied with the way his auto repair operation was going in his Port Jefferson 3 bay garage, he made the change to operating a mobile repair shop and left the Port Jefferson location. The overhead was now much lower but of course the amount of jobs that can be started and completed in a single day is just a few so it sort of balances out. Not having to be in one place and waiting for customers to come to me six days a week and then when it is slow you still have to pay that big overhead. Now I have more free time during the day to do other things like have a normal lunch wherever I want to eat that day. I bring my four year old to day care and pick him up at least 4 days a week. I take calls all week long, even Saturday and Sunday.
Kevin plans to develop his new idea of general auto repair service “At Your Home or Office by Appointment" with the addition of many service trucks covering most of Long Island for now.
