Frequently Asked Questions
Q -
How do you fix cars without a lift
to put the car up in the air?
Lifts are a convenience
but in almost all cases is not a requirement. What does it
matter if I do a brake job kneeling down instead of standing up?
I have floor jacks, high capacity ramps and jack stands and
except for a few cases that I can count on one hand, I have
never failed to complete a job because of the lack of a
conventional lift.
Q
– What happens when it rains or the
temperature gets cold? How do you work?
If it rains real badly,
it’s simple; I have the day off in many cases unless someone is
broken down on the road. Then I go no matter what the weather.
The cold simply does not bother me as long as I wear my Carhart
arctic grade coverall and that is only if the temp drops below
40F. I have done brake jobs in 16F while snow was falling with
20mph winds. You get it?
Q
– I left my lights on and my battery
is dead. Can I call you? What will you bill me?
I will come and give you a
jump start but will try to convince you to get a passerby to
jump you so you can avoid the $59.95 that I will bill you. You
will have to pay that even if the jump start does not get you
going but I will allow you another service call another day
without the service fee just because.
Q
– What is your warranty?
All parts and labor are
guaranteed for one year or 12000 miles. Whichever occurs first
will end the warranty period. Any exceptions to this warranty
will be clearly noted on the repair invoice that you receive.
This warranty is a limited warranty which has exclusions. The
exclusions are there to keep it fair for HouseCall and the
customer. For example, HouseCall does a brake job on your car.
After 5 months and 6000 miles the brakes wear out and you need
brakes again. The cause of the premature wear out is determined
to have been caused by a frozen caliper. Since calipers were not
a component replaced previously by HouseCall, your car will need
to have the calipers replaced at a cost of parts and labor but
the brake pads will be replaced at no cost. HouseCall will
always keep it fair in warranty situations.
Q
– Can you give me references about your work for others?
Yes, as many as you like,
just ask.
Q
– Can you come and just change my
oil?
I cannot do this job by
itself. I can do an oil change for you providing that other
services are rendered at the same time that total $135 or more
excluding sales tax.
Q
- Do you have liability insurance?
Yes, with a million dollar
limit. You may see a copy of it as I carry it on each truck |
